SOUTH OF MARKET, San Francisco — The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency approved curb changes in SoMa in 2026, including accessible passenger loading intended to support affordable senior housing developments.
The May decision record identifies a five-minute accessible loading zone at 967 Mission Street near Sixth Street, operating at all times, and a separate accessible zone at 480 Minna Street, operating from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The city also approved changes to accessible parking on Sixth Street near Folsom, responding to neighborhood transportation needs.
These curb-zone approvals are particularly relevant to passengers who need extra time or safe access when entering a vehicle. Administrative approval and physical installation are not necessarily simultaneous, so motorists must rely on posted signs, markings and current restrictions before parking or loading.
What SoMa residents should know
Drivers should respect accessible spaces and loading time limits. Residents with access concerns can consult SFMTA’s curb management notices and use the agency’s contact process to report problems.
